Restoring an Old Kitchen Pantry

This kitchen pantry had taken some abuse over the years and was in need desperate need of a make over. Stains can be stubborn and will continue to show ever after multiple coats of paint. This can be very frustrating costing you precious time and money. We cleaned the stains with gentle soap and a warm rag. After allowing ample time for the surface to dry we applied a stain blocking primer to hide the stain for good.

These wooden shelves had never been treated and required special attention to ensure a durable, scratch proof surface. We sanded the wood with a mechanical sander and vacuumed away the dust before applying a wood specific primer. Sanding the surface of the wood opens up the grain in the wood providing a proper substrate for the primer to adhere to.

Once everything was prepped we applied 2 coats of Shirwin Williams Urethane Enamel. Urethane Enamel creates a hard, durable finish that withstands the wear and tear of frequently used surfaces. It also provides washability so you can maintain your shelves for years to come!
